Well me too!
There can be many reasons why a piece of software may not appear to be working. In the first instance you need to check that your system is running all the very latest versions of software and drivers.
Software programmes like XDCAM Transfer use components of Final Cut Pro to encode the Quicktime video file and so both need to be installed on your Mac and need to have the correct firmware installed for FCP, Quicktime and in addition the Mac OS version needs to be current for everything to work correctly
A good place to start is www.sonybiz.net/xdcam
(Here’s a screen grab of what it looks like)
Sony’s useful XDCAM HD software update page
The XDCAM Tools/Downloads section has all the latest versions.
Here are the most current versions to date:
1. Apple MAC OS 10.5.5
* Run Apple “Software Update” application2. Apple Quicktime 7.5.5
* Run Apple “Software Update” application3. Apple Final Cut Pro 6.0.4
* Run Apple “Software Update” application4. Sony SxS PRO Driver
5. Sony XDCAM EX Clip Browser 2.00.00
6. Sony XDCAM Transfer 2.8.0
7. Sony XDCAM EX Log & Transfer Utility 1.0
Make sure that you are logged on to the MAC OS as an “Administrator” and that there are no SxS PRO cards or XDCAM devices connected to the Macduring installation of the above software.
Once you’ve installed everything re-boot your machine and you should be ready to go!
