BBC publish White Paper related to EX1 & EX3
The BBC have this week published a ‘White Paper’ for the PMW-EX1 and PMW-EX3.
It is generally accepted that if this happens, the BBC R&D team have been satisfied that the camera is ‘good enough’ to be used with their ‘approved’ settings on a BBC production
The White Paper lists the settings recommended to achieve maximum latitude and performance as tested and set up by the engineering team at BBC R&D. These then form the ‘BBC settings’ which all broadcasters tend to use as the ‘benchmark’.
Here’s the link to the report link:BBC R&D white papers
Now this may not mean blanket approval although it’s a pretty strong indication that the camera is ‘good enough’ for HD acquisition using a small camcorder.
A word of caution however……
Always check with your contract with the broadcaster for project specific guidelines.
